about

To be in different places offers new possibilities.
When UNESCO declared the cave "Hohle Fels" in southern Germany as World Heritage site because of its 40.000 year old archeological sensational findings, Frank Heinkel wanted to celebrate this honour with a spectacular concert. Because he has been playing concerts in this huge cave dome for already 15 years prior, he knew what would suit this location best.
The idea was to create a bridge with traditional common western instruments representing the "now", to the more unknown and uncommon instruments representing "then".

There were moments where the audience would get a glimpse of the essence and soul of music. Truly a magical experience.

You might call it challenging, impossible or just plain crazy, but whatever you might think, recording an album with high-end equipment in a natural cave with a constant humidity level of roughly 95% and water dripping down onto uneven rocky and muddy ground is definitely no mean feat! This recording is the result of some awesome teamwork on the part of Steffen Burkhardt, Anja Thiele & the scb music team, Gunnar Dieth & the GD music team, and Dominik Rau and the 21NineFilms team, so a big shout goes out to them too.

The „World Heritage Project Band“ are:

Frank Heinkel (didgeridoo, kamale n´goni, overtone singing)
Inga Rincke und Norbert Schubert (percussion)
Claus Wengenmayr (piano)
Harry Berger (saxophone)
Georg Hesse (guitar, bouzuki)
Eberhard Hahn (flutes)
